Recently our staff spent some time imagining, tinkering, and creating at the reDiscover space in West Los Angeles.  reDiscover uses castoff materials from various industries and businesses to promote hands-on learning along with environmental responsibility.  Rather than the items ending up in landfills, they are used for art projects, science kits, and just about any other activity you can think of.  reDiscover’s warehouse is filled floor to ceiling with interesting textiles, wood pieces, fabric notions, caps, bags, craft wares, as well as various other doodads and hoozawhatsists that you have to see to for yourself to truly understand their infinite possibilities.

We had a fun time creating with each other and being inspired by each other’s imaginations and crafting skills!  Here are a few examples of what we came up with (candle holders were quite popular)…

Development Associate Brice Lovell’s Candle Holder

Executive Director, Education & Programs Dr. Kristen Paglia’s Desk Set

Development Officer Sara Straubel’s Candle Holder

Programs Associate Stephanie Kistner’s Candle Holder

Curriculum Specialist Rich Scher’s Wood Sculpture

If you ever have the opportunity to check out this local art reuse warehouse, we definitely recommend it!
