Spotlight on the pARTy! 2016 Studios

on May 4, 2016

It’s P.S. ARTS’ 25th anniversary and to celebrate we are launching “the pARTy!,” a new fundraiser that embodies one of our core organizational values — to inspire creativity and confidence in the students we serve. This event will offer guests an evening of innovation, imagination, and play for adults — all to support our public school arts education programs.

Here’s a sneak peek at the “Studios” at this year’s event!

Amanda Demme HeadshotAmanda Demme
Amanda Demme is a photographer and artist known for portraits, still life photography, painting, sculpture, fine prints, design, music, video & film production. Demme was described by The Los Angeles Times as an “expert at ‘building a room,’ choosing a precise mix of guests, sculpting space with light and shadow, and cultivating a mood something akin to performance art.”

We are now taking reservations for exclusive 10-minute portrait sessions with her at the pARTy! For $500, you and a friend can step in front of the camera, experience Demme’s creative process, and walk away with a digital album of one-of-kind images. Only 13 sessions remaining on a first-come, first-served basis!

Since summer 2011, an incredibly dedicated team of volunteer teachers and students has been converting 2 acres of the John Muir High School campus into an urban farm. Any student of Muir can participate in hands-on learning at the Ranch by enrolling in one of three classes or applying for the after school internship program. The vision is for the Ranch to be integrated into every discipline taught at Muir High School, including science, math, english, art, and environmental studies.

Muir Ranch CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is the social enterprise of the nonprofit. The mission of Muir Ranch CSA is to teach the students important business and life skills, provide them with meaningful employment, and improve access to fresh, affordable, locally-grown produce.
