P.S. Arts Rebecca Cardenas

Rebecca Cardenas, Program CoordinatorBriefly introduce yourself and explain your new position at P.S. ARTS:

Greetings! My name is Rebecca Cardenas, and I am excited to join P.S. ARTS as a Program Coordinator working with our amazing Teaching Artists in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and the El Segundo Unified School District. After receiving my BA in Performing Arts and Social Justice from the University of San Francisco in 2010, I moved to Los Angeles to work in nonprofit youth programming in Boyle Heights and East LA. I recently graduated from UCLA with a Master’s in Education, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a Bilingual Authorization in Spanish.

What book is currently on your nightstand?

I’m currently reading Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson. I love how he incorporates humor when writing about science!

What is currently the most played song you’ve been listening to?

“Jealous Guy” by Donny Hathaway.

Where is your favorite place to view or take part in art in Los Angeles?

There are wonderful live performances and visual artists featured at events in Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles.

What famous person, either dead or alive, would you choose to take out for coffee?

The film Singin’ in the Rain had a significant influence on my love for dance so I would choose to get coffee with one of my favorite performers of all time, Gene Kelly!
