P.S. Arts Miguel and Chaya

We are excited to introduce our two new interns, Miguel Jeronimo and Chaya Yoon Borison! Chaya is the Getty Marrow Undergraduate Intern for Education and Miguel is the Media and Design Intern. Learn about their roles and what they’re currently reading and listening to.

Briefly introduce yourself and explain your position at P.S. ARTS.

Hey everyone! I’m Miguel Jeronimo and I am so excited to be a part of the team. I am the Media & Design Intern, and I will be doing designs and social media content for P.S ARTS. I hope my work meets everybody’s expectations. I feel blessed and excited.

What book is currently on your nightstand?

I have not started but will start reading Karla Cornejo’s book titled, The Undocumented Americans. It tells a story of an undocumented and a DREAMER’s experience in America. These are important topics for me, so I am really excited to read this book.

What is currently the most played song you’ve been listening to?

It is so hard to just list one, but Mac Miller’s “Small Worlds” and The Strokes “The Adults are Talking” are my go-to songs at the moment.

Where is your favorite place to view or take part in art in Los Angeles?

This is a tricky question because I am not sure how to clearly answer it. But I love just going out and looking at the streets of Los Angeles; it has art everywhere! From the beautiful murals of the art district to the intricate graffiti on walls and freeways, it is impressive to see art outside of a museum.

What famous person, either dead or alive, would you choose to take out for coffee?

I would like to take out Roberto Gómez Bolaños for coffee and ask him how it feels to be an icon in the Spanish-speaking community. Roberto is a Mexican comedian, actor, director, and screenwriter, who is known worldwide for his characters “El Chavo del 8” and “El Chapulino Colorado.” I would just like to know how one man came to be a part of so many people’s childhood.

Briefly introduce yourself and explain your new position at P.S. ARTS.

Hi I’m Chaya Yoon Borison and I am currently the Education Intern at P.S. ARTS through the Getty Foundation. I recently graduated from UCLA where I majored in Art History and minored in Visual and Performing Arts Education through the VAPAE program. Throughout the course of my internship, I will be creating P.S. ARTS To Go! videos inspired by the work of local artists in addition to creating a museum resource guide highlighting local museums and programs they offer. I will also develop a Family Art Night Project during my time at P.S. ARTS.

What book is currently on your nightstand?

I have been trying really hard to get through Crying in H-Mart by Michelle Zauner. It is a beautifully written memoir about Zauner’s experiences as a biracial woman navigating her Korean identity and coping with grief after the death of her mother. As the title suggests it is not a lighthearted easy read. It has stayed on my nightstand because every time I open the book I immediately start sobbing and have to stop (haha).

What is currently the most played song you’ve been listening to?

I have recently been listening to Japanese Breakfast’s new album titled Jubilee specifically the song “Kokomo, IN.” I also love the song “Blueming” by IU for a more upbeat vibe.

Where is your favorite place to view or take part in art in Los Angeles?

My favorite place to view art in Los Angeles is Giant Robot/GR2 in Sawtelle. I love the gallery space and sense of community there. It feels great to be able to buy art that I enjoy and directly support someone else’s career.

What famous person, either dead or alive, would you choose to take out for coffee?

I would say Dolly Parton. I have been a fan of her music for a long time and love her personality. I listened to a podcast about her, which gave me even more insight into how interesting she is outside of her career. I also think she would just be really easy to talk to and would have fun stories to share.

Thank you, Miguel and Chaya! We are so excited to have you on the team. We look forward to hearing more about your projects. You can learn about the roles of the rest of P.S.ARTS’ staff here.
