P.S.ARTS seeks an energetic and reliable Special Events Assistant to assist the events planning and implementation efforts of an arts education organization. The Special Events Assistant will support the Marketing Department and the Director of Marketing, who oversees all P.S. ARTS’ events. He/she will assist in the day-to-day special events operations including written and oral communications, events planning, budget and donation tracking, and volunteer support. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, and an interest in non-profit events, marketing, and fundraising.
Start Date: August 15, 2008
Essential Skills/Functions:
1. Assist the Marketing Department in planning events- Answer phones, manage projects, organize event meetings, create/edit correspondence and marketing materials, provide support for event leadership and volunteers on event days.
2. Support all Special Events Committees and event leadership on a project-by-project basis. Attend meetings as required.
3. Liaison with Development staff in preparation of invitation lists and events.
4. Ability to use personal automobile for errands.
5. Have a working knowledge of multiple telephones, Macs, MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint, e-mail and internet programs.
6. Willingness to work nights/weekends as needed.
7. Have an unflappable, positive attitude, a penchant for multi-tasking and project management, and a love for the arts and working with volunteers!
