The positive feedback and evaluations we receive from students, parents, teachers, faculty and school officials are an extraordinary testimony to the importance of integrating arts education back into the public school system. We are proud to have been praised publicly by California First Lady, Maria Shriver and the nation’s leading arts advocacy group, Americans for the Arts, as a national model for integrating the arts into public schools.
P.S. ARTS has re-established the importance of arts education in public schools by presenting students with an opportunity to express themselves through dance, music, theater and visual arts as part of their regular school day. These arts education programs offer students a creative outlet to stimulate critical thinking, problem solving and higher cognitive processes in not only the arts but also other areas of academics. In addition to in-school instruction, children participate in field trips to museums, music and drama performances, art galleries, and after-school enrichment classes in the arts. P.S. ARTS programs also increase classroom teachers’ confidence in integrating arts into their curriculum, building a wider constituency for the arts in schools and the community.
The list of schools waiting to receive our programs is long and every year we strive to raise more money to enable more children to benefit. Join with us as we work to help reform public education one school at a time. |
