The following day in Los Angeles, fashion-friendly ladies basked in a sunny, 75-degree day at the 4th Annual P.S. Arts Bag Lunch at Colleen Bell’s home, which benefited the socialites’ art charity of choice.  The stately manse was scattered with designer bags stuffed with products from Lancôme, the sponsor, all up for auction at below-wholesale prices.  “It’s like Christmas in July,” exclaimed Zooey Deschanel, who wound up donating her own silver Tod’s bag to the mix.  More than 200 guests, decked out in paper-thin, colorful frocks and sandals, shelled out $180,000 for the coveted satchels, clutches and totes.

Hobnobbing with actresses Reese Witherspoon, Kristin Davis and Kerry Washington was model Lydia Hearst, who designed a bag for Puma with friends Richie Rich and Traver Rains of Heatherette.  “Right now, I’ve got the only sample in the world,” boasted Hearts, who was donating it, along with pink and brown versions, to the auction.  For those who missed the event, not to worry: Hearst plans to give 75 more Lydia bags to friends such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker.
